Pushing the Boundaries of Crossfire Injection

My 82 Crossfire

Here are some pictures of my 82 crossfire injection engine. I thought it may be helpful for some people that are modifying their crossfire engines to see how I did things. My engine is a 383. Installed are... Wiseco forged pistons, Eagle FSI forged I-Beam Rods, Eagle forged crank, Melling HV oil pump, AFR heads, Bullet Racing HR cam, Morell roller lifters, Smith Brothers push rods, LS springs, Comp Cams Ultra 1.6 roller rockers, Our Renegade intake manifold, Aeromotive Universal fuel pressure regulator (vac referenced), bored throttle bodies 2.13", 90pph injectors, TRP 255lph fuel pump, New DUI distributor ignition, New MSD 8.5 wires, Hedman headers (no A.I.R pipes), DeWitts aluminum radiator with stock black finish, modified and upgraded 700R4 trans, Yank 9.5” SS3200 TC, 3.31 gear and an EBL Flash II ECM with HAM board to control everything along with a lot of other extra parts. I recently added a vacuum pump for the brake system and works very good. I can now move to a larger cam in the future without any brake issues if needed. As the car sits, it runs mid 12s using MT ET Street R drag radials and a 1.70, 60’ as of this last winter at the track. I hope in the future to get a 1.60, 60’. A completely new tune is in the car now and have not run it at the track or the dyno yet as of Jan 2023, but 11.99 is my goal.

Please come back often to see what I may have added, you never know what I may post and be sure to stop by the Shop and the Blog

Here are a few pictures of my 82, 383 crossfire engine, some old, some new and the way I did things and hope this helps others out. The close-up engine type picture showing the external regulator which is an Aeromotive universal vacuum referenced regulator and it’s set for 30psi at WOT with vacuum removed. Below the first iteration of the bent tubing hard-line install and under the fuel pressure gauge closest to the motor, is where I mounted the “Y” block and the input to that is from the bottom. The line coming out of the fuel pressure regulator on the bottom is the return line. I recently added all new custom made to fit MSD 8.5mm wires and the new complete DUI distributor is finally installed.

Starting with the third engine picture, which is the latest version of my fuel system as of August 2021, you can compare the differences. The old hard-lines were causing issues with my new tune now in development. I had to install a rubber nylon braided fuel line from Vibrant along with their black press on fittings to make it all work. My new goal is to achieve a 1/4 mile ET of at least 11.99. The car already runs mid 12s consistently. I hope to have the new tune dialed in later this winter and ready for the track. The fuel system works much better now and the issue I was having is completely gone now with the new lines. I actually like the new lines more than the old silver hard-lines. Send me your opinion if you want to or you can ask any questions about my setup. I will post more related pictures as time goes by.
